Question Motor Swap Question

I just bought a 94 z28 (state trooper car) that had the original engine taken out (due to it being blown) and it had a 96 lt1 put into it. It had some hesitation problems, so I took it to the mechanic. He said that the computer was having some problems matching up 100% with the engine and he's working on calling a technical guy for help.

Has anyone swapped a 96 lt1 into a 94 body or something similar? What needs to be done regarding the PCM/computer/etc? Or is it something else that needs to be changed?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Motor Swap Question

Was the PCM changed with the engine? I know 94 is OBDI and 96 is OBDII. I know they look at things a little differently but other than that I'm not sure. Could be the problem though.

Nope, the PCM was not changed. Should it be updated to OBDII?

Re: Motor Swap Question

I'm not sure what all the differences are regarding the engine aand sensors. Maybe somebody else can chime in and help out. I just know that they are different. I also know that there are a couple of websites that do conversions. Most do an OBDII to OBDI conversion as it seems to be easier to mod the car.
