motor swap Ideas(thinking out loud)
ok I bought a 1994 Z28 last month and after a week of driving it it spun a bearing, I'm in the process of pulling the motor now(its going very slow because I dont have a garage so I'm doing it out side in the cold). I was thinking that instead of rebuilding the ls1 and putting that back in that I might use the same money to build up an older block 350 and put a carbed 350 back in the place of the lt1. for the cost of the rebuild on my lt1 I think I could get alot more power out of an older carbed 350. any reason you guys think this might not be a good idea?
and just fyi I'm from NC and the inspection laws just changed, now I only have to pass a safty inspection, there is no emisions check on 94's any more

however, if you run a carb motor, you will have a difficult time passing a safety check with no wipers..........
Re: motor swap Ideas(thinking out loud)
You'd go through more work/cost trying to stick a carb'd 350 in there rather than just sticking with what bolts in and throwing some ported heads and a cam in there.
LT1's have gone low 8's.. looking for more than that?

I'm just not a huge fan of FI V8s, I like a simple carbed motor, less **** semes to go wrong with them, again I'm just thinking out loud it will be early spring befor I will have the cash for somthing else
Re: motor swap Ideas(thinking out loud)
I know i sure dont miss doing jet changes all the time and i like the fact that i can have some drivability with a huge cam. Carbed motors also use lots more gas. An old 350 doesnt have reverse flow cooling so dont even think about running too high of compression on pump gas...not to mention the lt1 makes for a perfect n2o motor.
