The stock head uses 3/8" studs. The 7/16" studs are a little more stable at high RPM. The only real cost difference is the cost of buying new studs. Personal preference really. I reused my stock 3/8" studs when I did my heads and cam. No problems so far.

Combination Motorsports offers all the parts. You might want to check them out.

yeah, I use combomotorsports for my parts too. they are great guys, and they know there stuff. they have there own brand for some things that can save you alot of money. as for the rocker studs, the heads are taped for a 7/16 stud from the factory. the stock studs are 7/16 in the head, and 3/8" portion that sticks up. if you have the extra money, might as well buy the 7/16" rocker studs (think there only like $30 set) now before you buy your rockers. that way, if you ever do go alot bigger down the road, you know you dont have to replace the rockers again. I think the comp. cams pro mags are the best rocker out there. yes, get the 1.6's. dont forget to replace the timing chain while your at it. if you have enough money, get a true double roller timing set. you'll also have to buy a electric waterpump though if you do get the true roller. as far as tjhe port job, get the best one you can afford. if your friends gonna port them, then he should know how big he can go with the ports.

comp R lifters, some sort of true roller timing chain, 7/16 studs and 7/16 nonself aligning rocker arms, long tube headers, 52mm tbody, hardened pushrods, valve guide plates, valve seals, gasket set, ring set, elec. waterpump (CSI or meizere), cold air ind. kit, over the valve covers wire kit (taylers from www.thunderracing.com), sp. plugs (either ac delco platnums or NGK TR55),

what am I forgetting?

Is 3/8" the stock head though? Um just curious why do I have to run an electric water pump with a double roller timing set? Alsoisn't the stock one belt driven if so do I just leave the pulley on it and the belt?

The rocker studs in the LT1 are 3/8". The side that is actually screwed into the head is 7/16". Large threads hold better in an aluminum head since they spread the load over a larger surface area. You can get rockers and studs that are 7/16" on each side if you want.

The stock timing set is a gear and chain setup, not a belt like an import. The reason you have to run an electric waterpump with the double roller is because those chains don't have a provision to run the mechanical waterpump. Chevy offers the LT4 extreme duty timing chain which has the provisions to run the stock mechanical pump, but that setup goes for $200+.

Will the stock LT1 timing chain cover go fit when I buy the double timing set? Also just order extreme duty 7/16 studs or reg 7/16 stud and 7/16 rockers?

You have to slightly clearance the timing cover for that chain to fit.

A 93 will require you to upgrade to a vented opti if you want to run the double roller and the electric water pump or the LT4 extreme. Oh, and since the car is speed density, it most likely won't run once the cam is installed until you have a new chip burned for it.

Which would be better to run the double or the LT4 extreme? Would I still have to run the electric pump with either of them? Also what about the optispark? Do i run a newer one like off a 95?
