Motor Almost Ready To Start
Well after fighting everything lately its starting to go together nicely. The motor is bolted into the car and everything is hooked up except the fans, exhaust, CAI, and the battery.
One question though, when I was setting the valves I tried shoebox's 1st method and just decided to do it the way I have done it in the past and just bumped the motor over. I waited until the exhaust valve just started to open then set the Intake valve and vise versa. I put the rocker at zero lash then I put 1/4 turn of preload on the Comp Rs, is that going to be ok?
Tonight me and my brother are going to finish bleeding the brakes and toping it off with fluids and I'll fab the exhaust and hopefully fire it up.
I just wanted to thank everyone that has answered any questions and wanted to say this site is a great place with alot or good info and has helped me alot.
Thanks

Not exactly vice versa: yes adjust intake when exhaust starts to open, but adjust exhaust when intake has already opened and is about halfway closed.
As far as turns pas 0 lash, I guess whatever the mfgr. recommends for those lifters, otherwise the usual recommendation is around 1/2 turn. Can go all the way to one full if necessary to quiet them down (assuming you want to do a final adjustment with the engine running).
Bear in mind that adjustments can vary since everyone has their own "feeling" for 0 lash.JMHO

Doesn't it feel good to almost have it done
At first I wanted to have it running last Saturday, but now I'm just taking my time and making sure everything goes back together right. The thing that I like best is that it looks almost stock. I cleaned stuff up, but I really don't care if the engine compartment is spotless, I want it to look unmessed with except the obvious. BTW good luck with yours man
As far as the lifters I bought them used from a friend, they don't even have 500 miles on them but I didn't get any instructions on how to set them up, but I have heard that 1/4 turn with my 7/16 studs should do it, but I'll have to go back and set them when its running, but I want my exhaust done first so I can hear if anything is going wrong.
If everything goes well I will have a clip up of my exhaust since these mufflers are pretty new and its hard to find a clip and I think they are going to be pretty badass sounding, I can't wait to hear it
Thanks again
