Most HP I can get on an everyday lt1
Re: Most HP I can get on an everyday lt1
Z28SORR-It's a shame there are so many cars, trucks, SUV's, that will put the bite on our stock LT1's, especially these heavy *** verts.
Convertibles only weigh 90lbs more than a hard top with all the same options, AC, etc.
I dont know about you, but I have yet to have a truck or SUV give my car a good run lol. Actually for that matter, on the street, the only thing that has beat my car was a 347 Stroker Mustang. It was ugly ... lol. LT1's still hang on pretty well with todays cars. If you rule out the supercars, LS7 Z06, Viper, etc. What really walks all over these cars?
They stick well with the new Mustangs (Big surpise), and with full bolt ons give most things a run for their money other than a Vette. Their about dead even stock for stock with a SRT 4. A hair slower than the new GT's but nothing headers cai and RRs wouldnt fix. A little slower than the new chargers and SRT8's. They run mid 13's. LT1 cars run high 13's.
Keep up with the times. Mod it, Shut up rich boys, Call it a day.

Before I would suggest the Hot Cam Id look into the small Crane cam and the small lingenfelter cam I think they are both like 211/219 (cams are new to me sorry if im wrong) and they are putting down around 340-350 rwhp on stock heads. These cams are smaller than the hot cam and are supposed to idle much smoother, and make more power. Much better for a DD.

Re: Most HP I can get on an everyday lt1
Thanks everyone for all the help. I will most definitely do as much research as possible before I start to add anything to it. While I did say I'm not using the bottle, I just may go the route of the supercharger. Man, I love this site.
And now for the bad news, while at the gas station I noticed steam coming from under the hood. (Luckily I was aroung the corner from my home.) I get home and pop the hood and saw steam but didn't see where it was coming from. I jacked it up and discovered a big puddle of coolant under the car and part of the Opti spark was wet.
So thats tomorrow morning's project. I plan on posting a WTF and now I'm going to bed.

Here is a very informative small cam thread on Tech. I would higly recommend you read it. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...ight=small+cam
Re: Most HP I can get on an everyday lt1
I'm doing every bolt on plus ported heads and 1.7 roller rockers so it will have just a little off from stock in the way it acts but will perform much much better. I'm hoping for 340rwhp.

Re: Most HP I can get on an everyday lt1
lots of people have different meanings of "streetable." Mine will be a daily driver, with e water pump, 385 stroker, 3.75 stroke, 11.21:1 compression, advanced inductions heads/cam/intake, ram air, long tubes, 42lb injectors... this thing is gonna be mean. With the heads I got, I am able to use a street friendly cam, so I don't have to fight the car in the lower rpms! Mine will be well over 400RWHP. So, there are lots of options and opinions. I chose to go all out, cuz thats how I run!
Plus, after being beat by a supercharged sh*tstang, I want to be beat only by high end cars! lol. I work at a chevy dealership, and I plan to line mine up with a C-6 vette from work to see how she does... I hope I can beat one of those sweet cars! That would make it all worth it!

My waterpump went out and the distributor (opti) is right behind it. So, when the water pump goes it takes the opti with it

Another thing I've noticed about them is that apparently the computer really restricts the power output until the car has been broken in. Many guys on SRT boards are running mid 13s just over 100mph with brand new cars.
Re: Most HP I can get on an everyday lt1
Z28SORR ~ You better get yours on a scale again. With a 1/4 tank of fuel, me not in the car it weighed 3580. This was 1/4 of gas. No spare in back. No other weight reductions. That plus me = 3730ish? They really do only weigh about 100lbs more than a similar fully optioned hard top or T-Top car. Dont believe me? Look it up.
And I dont care what magazines have them listed at. Magazines also listed the 4th gen LS1 camaro's anywhere from 13.8 or 9's down to 12.8 or 9's. Everyone I have seen run was in mid 13's. Trap speed was between 106 and about 108 what I have seen so far. Sure their impressive. I never said they were slow. Just that a bolt on LT1 would give them a good run for their money.
Magazine times are useless. Look at what they run. Check out Dodge Talk some time. They are a low to mid 13 second car with the average driver. Im sure some have pulled off high 12's.
