Moser 12 bolt axel seals question. work in progress
I am installing my 12 bolt axels on my 95 LT1. I slid the axels into the tub and lined up the splines. I tapped the axel in all but alittle less than 1/8 of an inch. It has stopped moving. Was I suppost to use the seal with the red edges and the rubber center or was I suppost to toss them. It looks like every thing is correct but the axel will not seat flush to install the brake backing plate. HELP. James
Here is a link to a pretty good install page.

I sent Moser my backing plates and the pressed the bearings on for me. I removed the inner seal and the axel went in with no problem. I did notice that the inner seals were not seated properly into the axel tube. I saw the red colored material was still 1/16 of an inch from being seated. I will attempt to get the rear seals from Moser and try to install them again. (even if I have to pay for them.) I'll try useing something like a big socket to install the seal instead of the axel it self. Thanks for the reply. James
Sounds like you found it. With out those seals the axles will eventually start to leak
Had my axles out yesterday to rebuild Eaton. Got a whoopping 2,500 miles before the Carbon Fiber clutches let go
