Moroso Cold Air Kit

I tried searching, went back nearly three years but couldn't find the answer to this question.

I got my moroso cai today and installed it. I'm having a problem with the main plastic tube rubbing on a nipple on the ABS box. It also seems to hit the hood and throws the aligment off slightly, although maybe it was like that before. I loosened the brackets for the ABS box and tried nudging it back a bit but it didn't seem to want to budge. I know a lot of people on this board have this kit, anyone else run into these problems?

My moroso cai also touches the abs unit. The abs unit gets really hot and it melted a little groove in it and it sits nicely in there now. It didnt burn all the way through though. I'd put some type of heat shielding on there though. It didnt affect my hood. Are you sure it is as far down as it goes?

My K&N FIPK kit does the same thing. I think that it melted a small spot too, but it didn't go all the way through. Not trying to hijack your thread, but I remember that the K&N FIPK said it was not for cars with traction control. I have TCS and I still put it on. Didn't seem to cause any problems that I know of. Any idea why K&N says this?

mine does cause my hood to slightly not close.....it has gotten better over the years, but it still sticks up slightly. Not sure what you can do about it, maybe grind the inside of the hood a little.

I'm pretty sure mine is seated all the way in but i'll check it again. If it is i'll try cutting a 1/4" off the bottom and reinstalling it. Maybe that'll help give me just enough room.

Re: Moroso Cold Air Kit

i dont know that grinding any will help it much if its seated well on the corner of the radiator. mine rubs a bit on the hood but isnt hurting anything. ive had mine on for over 3 years and has always rubbed a bit. never done any real damage.

I think that is for the ss hood with the ram air induction setup.......TCS would definately get in the way of that, but I don't see how it would get in the way of a regular cold air induction.

Where exactly does the tcs box normally sit? I don't have it on mine but was always under the impressior it by the drivers side head. But it sounds like it's by the tb. Can anyone verify this?

Re: Moroso Cold Air Kit

The TCS box is on the drivers side valve cover, not going to interfere with the CAI..... but in the TCS cars, I suspect the ABS unit is larger, since it has a set of 4 motors for the 4-channel ABS/TCS, while the ABS only unit has only three motors.
