Moroso 20185

Has anyone ever used the Moroso 20185 oil pan made specifically for lt1's? I am thinking of purchasing this pan for my 383. There are several members on this site that indicate that it is okay to use the stock pan on a stroker. I am not ruling the stock pan out but if it does not work to my liking then I would like to have another option and the moroso seems like a good one. I also noticed that this particular pan calls for Moroso's oil pump and pickup, which is 5/8ths instead of 3/4ths. Will this be an issue? How many of you are using the 5/8ths oil pump and pickup?

I have the pan and the matching HV oil-pump and pick-up. It is a good package for a stroker, however, the pan had two leaks (bad and missed welds). Check it with light-weight oil for leaks before you install it.

Also, you don't use the OEM windage tray with this pan (it has one built-in).

Do I really need the HV oil pump?

Possibly not, it depends on your engine build along with the tolerances.

However, you "do" need a pick-up that is positioned in the correct location in the custom pan to play with the pan baffles and partitions. Along with the relationship of the pick-up and pan botton (correct depth), which is very critical.

Is there a big difference using the 5/8's versus the 3/4 pickup?
