well. . when i popped the hood it looks like she sprayin just out of the top of the water pump. . which is leaking on to the new opti-spark, and currently not wantin to start again. . this car ,i hate to say, is a P.O.S. i have never had this much trouble on a car i just bought. . it's had new injectors, fuel pump, spark plugs, wires, distributor, and this is the second opti-spark within a month. . i don't understand what to do anymore. .

I have a 94 and I had the same problem. The water pump leaked onto the opti and coolant got inside the cap which caused it not to fire. I checked the opti harness the coil, everything and it turned out to be the moisture inside the cap. Hope this helps.

Ouch...yea sounds like the water pump went out and killed your new opti.

Depending on your money situation, you can either let the opti dry and try to run it, or you can just bite the bullet and get a new one.

By the way, this is why most people swap in a new water pump when they install a new opti. I'd definitely get a GM water pump to replace this one.

Regarding the car being a POS, you have to understand that even with only 65k miles, its still 11 years old. Water pump/distributor/fuel pump/plugs/wires, those are all common stuff that need to be replaced. Why did you change the injectors? My guess is maybe you thought that was your problem when the fuel pump went out?

I pulled my pump off and replaced it with an electric pump. While I had it off I pulled the cap of the opti took a blow dryer and dried out the opti and the opti harness. This worked out great for me I hope it will work for you.

This is the problem. You need to do your own work on your car. Adding labor easily triples the price of a repair. There are lots of how to guides around and the forum is full of great information to get you started on doing your own repairs.

Yeah this is true about doing your own work. If you have any questions on how to go to shbox.com. You will find everything you could possibly need to know. Hope this will help you. Also Injuner is very knowledgeable about these cars and seems to always be willing to help(.)

well all the motor work and such was done before i bought the car. .the work that i have had done to it is bigger exhaust and i had the second opti put on. i am understanding the fact the car is older and needs more tlc than most. .the injectors were replaced the same time all the rest of the work was done. . and the place i bought it from told me this motor was said to have an LT4 cam in it. . but if this is true would you have to change the computer and some more?

you would not have to change the pcm just have someone do a custom tune for you. Before you have this done you will need to talk to the previous owner and find out what mods were done to the car so you can let the tunener know. Bryan at pcmforless.com did the tune on my car and I am very pleased with it. Hope this helps you.
