More LT1 help

Ok the 94 z28 that i bought that's totalled supposedly ran fine when it was wrecked (numerous people told me this). It's been sitting for around a year running only occasionally and it has 130k on the odometer. I'm installing this into my 69 camaro. My question is, how long do these engines keep going stock (how many miles before needing a rebuild)? If i can get away with it i'll put it in my 69 camaro without rebuilding it initially and rebuilding it summer after this. What do you guys think?

These motors last a long time if you don't overheat them. I've heard of some going 175-200k miles or more. In your case it would be fine to go ahead and get the motor in and rebuild it next summer.

I'd rebuild while its already out of the car, less hassle.

Pulling motor is no problem, my problem is time this summer. I'd perfer to work on fabbing it up to work and pulling it out next summer after everything is already setup up to work.

I feel the same way while its out get it over with so your not doing it twice, pulling the motor yuck.

true i'dlike to rebuild it while it's out but when i rebuild it i plan on doing: heads, intake, cam, etc... and i dont have the funds for that right now.

Pulling the motor later isnt' a big deal for me, esp with the space that the first gen will give the lt1. Motor pulls in first gens are easy, it's not half under the windshield.

I would stay with your plan of rebuilding next summer. simply put, you have alot more money to spend on rebuilding it. You will also have a better idea of what you want; stocker, stock, or supercharged. etc..... Do the install now and see how it runs and go from there. My 97 has 129 on the clock and has showed no sighs off slowing down anytime soon. I'm running moble 1 with Lucas oil additive.
