More horsepower?
More horsepower?
OK... my car is pretty much stock but a few things (exhaust, and CAI) so I am trying to buy a hypertech programmer off ebay to add some horsepower. I am so confused. I understand that once the programmer is used on one vehicle that unless that vehicle is put back into stock configuration by the HPP it won't work on any other car, and if it IS de-programmed then u can only use it on a car of the same year, make and model..correct? Anyways what i am really confused about are the types. I see a hypertech programmer plus, a hypertech programmer 3, and then a hypertech programmer but the color of the car on the programmer is yellow which is different from others i have seen. I'm trying to use it on a 95 z28. DOes anyone know exactly which one i need to get!!!
Thanks
Thanks
The original "Power Programmer" did not include the ability to adjust all the things that can be changed with the HPP+ and HPP3. As far as I know, the HPP+ and HPP3 are the same thing, with the name changed. But like anything, the newer the model, the more likely it is to reflect improvements.
And you are correct... if the programmer has not been used to return the original vehicle to "stock" programming, you will not be able to use it on your car - although there is a way around it
.
Probably the most important point would be that many people have found little improvement in the HPP "performance" programming, and some have experienced a loss of power with it, verified by dyno tests. The closer your car is to stock, the more likely you will see some small gain. With any further modifications, it may well become a liability. Might want to consider spending the money elsewhere, IMHO.

As long as the old car was returned to stock programing, the programer is unlocked, and can be used on another car. I believe the plus and the 3 are the same, the 3 just being the newer version. I have a 3 for sale. It will work on different years and models, not for sure what the others are, but it will work for any '95 LT1 f body. $175+shipping. email joshveith@yahoo.com if ur interested.
