moody LT1....any ideas?

Hey guys,

ok, here's the skinny. i had a bucking prob for over a month now. i replaced the plugs and taped up the intake elbow and the situation improved some. however, whats going on now is that SOMETIMES when i get on the gas it will start to buck quickly throughout the rpm band. if i let off the gas for a sec and then get back on it, it stops completely and runs like a champ. what's the deal with this car ? i don't think any parts are dead, because it would probably do it every time, but i do think something is dying. Please help me, i'm low on funds and just got laid off. thanks to all

Question Things to check..

Have you tried checking your spark plug wires??? They could be touching your exh. manifolds or may be ripped a bit here and there. Also, it could be your opti-spark going bad. I sure hope not 'cause it can get expensive. Sorry for the situation. Hope this helps you.

Check the fuel filter, lurching, and hesitation in WOT, then when you let off it comes back normal sounds like its starving for fuel. Its cheap and easy to do less than $10.00 for a filter.

i have been told that the o2's and egr could cause a slight bucking/surging. this should only be at low rpm's though, at least if the egr is bad. is your intake elbow ripped? this could be a problem if it is. someone actually mentioned that they replaced the knock module with an lt4 knock module and the surging went away. let us know if you find your problem

It sounds to me like the problem is your plug wires.Test them with an ohm meter. If they are old I would replace them.
