Lightbulb monkeys at gm dealership or not?

Well I havent run a datamaster on the car yet...i plan on doing that tonight. Anyways my ses light comes on after about 1 minute in the car. I asked the guys at the chevy dealership and they said that I needed lockouts on my 02 sensors because i wasnt running my catolac converter anymore. I wasnt aware of anyone ever doing this before. Can someone confirm or are they just a bunch of grease monkeys working over there.

What year car is it? If it's a 93-95, you don't need anything.

Not to sure what year your car is, but you definetly need O'2 simms in place of your after-cat sensors. I never heard the term lockout, but I am sure that is what they are referring too.

You can get 02 simms at Thunder Racing, make your own, or get them programmed out.

I have a 94. The reason I dont understand is because my 02 sensors are before where the cat was. Unless it measures the back pressure too. Why would I want to get the 02 sensors programmed out though. I will be running n20 and I sorta need them to monitor the air/fuel.

your right, they are monkeys! On a 94 there is no need for O2 sims. Sims are only needed on 96-newer OBDII cars for the after cat O2 sensors. I run a test pipe and no SES light here.

edit* no they don't measure pressure or any other trickery either, just O2.

Thank you...thats what i thought. I just dont really have the courage to sit there and argue with a tech guy...even though I probably know more about my car then he does. If thats not the case though Im stumped because I cant figure out this code. Hopefully datamaster will figure it out. Autozone couldnt even get any codes out of my car either...bunch of monkeys there too...haha.

This only applies to 96 or newer vehicles. No aftercat o2 sensors on years 93-95.
