Mods after tune

Well I'm trying for more advice with the problem I'm having. I have upgraded my car to long tube headers after my tune from mad wolf. At the time I got the tune I had the stock exhaust manifolds running through a hollow cat. I had to have a new cat put on so the car would pass inspection. Lately, the service engine soon light has been coming on after pushing the car or driving for 20 or more consecutive miles. DTC 44 (left bank lean) is the code I get when scanning the car with a hand held scanning device. Could adding the cat to a car with a tune for no cat be a possible cause for my problem? Another thing I noticed is after I push the car is the exhaust gets louder; not just at high rpm but at low rpm when driving normally after I push it. Any advice is welcome and appreciated. Sorry for the lengthy post.

Im pretty much in the same boat, i have a tune for LT's no cats but im running no cats and stock headers for now, when i installed the tune i did not feel any difference in performance but the car ran cooler ofcourse then before, i think it might be because the tune is for LT's with my stock headers its not doing what its suppose to. I havent put a high flow on leaving it as is till i get around my problem with a mechanic after thats resolved i hope get the headers installed.

both of you need to get the headers on the car and the emissions BS off. Than have everything tuned out except the cats.......No more codes than

I already have the headers on the car. When I got the tune I had the stock manifolds. I got the pacesetters with air/egr since I live in Missouri and the car has to pass a visual inspection. I have been considering hollowing out the new cat that is on the car now, but I would like to diagnose the problem before going to work on the car.

Does the tune "tune out the cat" or is it tuned to have it?

Hollowing out cats is a bad idea. The PCM usually throws a code so im guessing this is a prexisting issue from when you still have the manifolds and and hollowed cat.

Get a new tune, it shouldnt cost much. Have the emissions stuff tuned out(execpt the cat) and it should not throw any codes. When you tune out the cat you normally have it running a tad bit leaner so that may be your issue.

But try to explain whats going on better? I dont compelety understand whats up and its hard trying to help you without knowing all there is to know.

No the tune isn't the problem. Check your O2 sensors and the wiring. Did you buy O2 extensions or make your own? Lots of times the wiring gets burned by the headers and causes issues. Also sometimes as the headers go through heat cycles and burn off whatever is inside of them it can cause the O2 sensor to go bad. Take the O2's and switch sides to see if the code changes to the right bank.

When I gutted my cat it did not throw a code. And ulakovic22 is probaly right you had a O2 sensor take a crap, didyou used any type of gasket sealer when you put your LT's on? The fumes from the gasket sealer will kill a O2 sensor dead.. Learned that from experence and have seen it many times since. Something you just dont think about .

I did not use any gasket sealer when I installed the LT's. I purchased new bosch(crap) O2 sensors when I installed the headers and tried to make sure that I soldered(spelling?) each individual wire to the same location it was wired on the old O2. I will try switching the sides of the O2 sensors to see if the problem follows.

Turns out it was the O2 sensor. The lean problem went to the right side when I switched them. Thanks for the help.
