what kind of short shifters are the best to get? are underdrive pulleys a good, easy mod to do? what about intakes? what about the "Skip Shift Eliminator" on this page: http://lt1f-body.racenet.net/drivetrain.php
does anyone know if it works/ and what it does exactly?
thanks for the help.

Just give it a little more gas and you don't have to worry about the CAGS.

i'm still sorta lost on the shift thing... is it for a 6spd? what do you mean "shift w/out going 1st-4th?" what is the point of having it? what happens without it? would you recommend this?

Personally I've never heard of anyone regretting a Pro 5.0 Powertower shifter. Billet steel, adjustable stops, and long threading for a custom chop-height.

I eventually went with a Lou's Short Stick (chrome of course ) to shorten the **** while bringing it closer to the driver (just feels better IMO).

As for underdrive pullies, I'm not sure you'll get more than a few ponies from it and they're pretty pricey/PITA to install.

The CAGS eliminator is a nice start. You can either get it programed out, unplug the thing (and ignore the SES light), or get the CAGS elliminator.

I think your best bet would be:

- Cold Air Induction (CAI, ~$170 to 200)
- CAGS elliminator (~$20 I think)
- Redline Water Wetter ($6)
- 160* Thermostat (~$30)
- Magnaflow Stainless Steel Catback (~$280 I think)

Oh yeah,
Include a poly transmission mount (feels much better when shifting, ~$20), poly ends/bushings for the rear sway bar, and a 35mm front sway bar from Sam Stratto for ~$200.

Oh yeah... and try here for more info: http://web.camaross.com/forums/search.php?s=

CAGS is Computer Aided Gear Selection. GM added it to the 6 speed cars in an attempt to increase gas mileage. When you're under a certain speed and throttle, the computer trips a solenoid in the T56 which will prevent you from selecting 2nd or 3rd gear. When you disable CAGS (either programming it out or using the CAGS eliminator) it allows you to select any gear at any speed like a normal car. GM engineers don't understand the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" thing. The CAGS eliminator was the first thing I bought after I bought my car.

You might try some of the board sponsor's sites for parts.

Stick w/ K&N, Morosco, or SLP.... They're all going to get you about the same performance upgrade.

as for the air intakes, i think the car i am getting has the SLP air intake...is there a way to replace JUST the cone-style filters? where can i get them? and also, it has the 4.10 rearend, and the speedometer is off a little, is there a cheap way to fix it? or do i need to buy that $330 HPP thing? oh yeah, and does that HPP really work in terms of performance gains? is it reliable? how easy is it to use?

best bang for buck would be a torque converter(other than nitrous).

good companies to look at is midwest and vigilante converters. midwest are about 500 and vig are expensive(700) but trusted and well known company with very very good torque converters
