Mixing Dino & Synthetic oil for form my own blend??
Re: Mixing Dino & Synthetic oil for form my own blend??
Most of the Syn Blends are about 25% to 30 % syn and the rest dyno oil.
Modern Dyno Oil is pretty good, I admit not as good as full Syn, but when youre motor isnt going to be treated to extreme temps up or down, the boosted dyno oil will do a good job. A daily driver that sees the track only 3 or 4 times a year (DRAG RACING) will not see a huge difference.
I just rebuilt a motor that the car had been treated very badly in its life, but the oil was changed regularly with the CHEAP stuff (No name dollar store brand) The crank checked out fine !!!! We rebuilt it because it had 189,000 some odd miles on it and it smoked like a skeeter truck. The amazing thing is there was no lip on the top of the cylender. We had the block hot tanked and checked and he said it was only out at the top and bottom by less than .001 !!!
On the opposite side of that I rebuilt my grandads farm truck motor for him that he would change the oil in when he thought of it. (lol) It was a 79 Chevy 4 bolt main 350 it had regular oil in it. It had a HUGE .020 something lip at the top of the cylender and the crank was scoured, if reused it would have had to have been turned .040 over !!
I admit if youre really wanting the best, then Syn will do best , but on a daily driver or mild race use you won't really see the difference with the eye. If youre **** like I am about changeing the oil and filter AND air filter regular dyno oil boosted with syn will do a good job.
