Unhappy Missing about 2 cups of coolant?!!?

Ok my low coolant light came on and i checked the reservoir to see if i was low. Well the reservoir said i was ok and my coolant was at the level it was supposed to be. I opened my radiator cap and the fliud level in there was about 3 inches from the top. The kight used to just flicker on and off but now its on permantly. Where the hell did my coolant go? I see no leaks and the car runs great. I never had this problem till about a month ago when the light started to act up. Please guys help me out here. Appreciate it.

Thats not really low. Check the low coolant sensor, they are known to go bad and throw the light.

Mine always sits down a few inches when it is completely cold. Only place it could go is on ground, or in oil. Drain the oil and see if you are concerned

If your coolant resovoir was indicating Ok and it was only down about 3 inches I would hazard a guess that the sensor may be shot.

However, I would top it off and see if that makes the low coolant light come off.

If it does: than I would be monitoring my coolant level every day and make sure of what the level is just in case it is getting used up very slowly.

When my head gasket went it used coolant very slowly at first. In fact I caught it before it started contaminating the oil.

This statement is not correct.

The coolant can also go into the transmission. There is a transmission cooler that is in the radiator. A while back my tranny cooler leaked into the radiator. I saw ATF floating on top the coolant. Since the coolant stays under pressure after the car is turned off, it can be forced into the transmission lines.

That's what I was thinking when I saw you had a manual and JC Z28 had an auto.

Thanks guys....i mean if the head gasket is bad then it gives me a reason to do the heads and cam i was trying to justify doing. But so far we'll see what happens. Once again thanks for the help.
