mislodged pushrod

Had some noise coming from the engine, took off the valve cover and the one pushrod was mislodged from the roller rocker. I loosened the roller rocker and lodged the pushrod back in and tightened the rocker the same as I had used to loosen it. 3 days later the pushrod is mislodged again, what would cause this? A sticky valve?

Re: mislodged pushrod

The valve lash could have been set wrong when the RR's were installed or the RR locking nut could have been installed wrong and the nut backed off. You definitely want to reset the lash on that valve and not just tighten the nut down the same number on turns it took to remove it. I'd reset the lash on all the valves...if one is worng, do you have confidence in the rest of them?

Re: mislodged pushrod

After setting the lash properly try to rotate the rocker and see if the pushrod moves. Maybe the guides on your self aligning rockers are bad. It could also be from bad lifter.

Re: mislodged pushrod

Alright, you are kind of new here. You want to adjust the rocker when it isnt being lifted by the cam.You are going to have to turn the motor over with a ratchet on the crank pullley.Watch that pushrod rise, then fall. When it is down all the way, tighten the rocker nut til you have no play between the pushrod and rocker. Then tighten it 1/2 turn more. This is the preload.....Do that to all of them.Hope you understand it...Shoebox has it on his site...A lot of info there. It could be a lifter problem.
