Didn't understand the other question.

OK this is what I've been trying to prove the whole time, just to kick the dead horse one more time . I'm not trying to argue just say that I have a dcr in the 9.5 area.
DCR is a corrected SCR for a cam that has the valve still open after IVC ABDC (too many acronyms!! )
You all have my facts from block to cylinder head cc's (was flowed and cc'd before the install), to cam lobe lift at advertised and not 050 and compresion check that says it's about 9.5 to 1. If there is anything that is missing please pm me and I will give you the nfo. From the 3 calculators (web based that I've run) it always ends up with the same number +/- .05.

Please tell me if there is anything wrong with what I have said, I take constructive critisizm well and want to learn as much as I can that is factual.

yes my head was in a dark hole earlier about the "advance" post but I was think of mechanical advance and forgot there is none (insert sound of head popping out of ****).

Not trying to criticize at all.
I came up with the same number--9.59 with the info you provided. To get it correct I will need to know how far the piston is in the hole(if any) and how much has been taken off the block(if any). The compression height of the piston also.I can figure it out with the block deck height and compression height.
Do you have the advertised duration and LSA and ICL of your cam? Pm me if ya don't want to put it up on the board.
I can figure it another way with the cam and block numbers.

Re: Minimum recommended DCR??

I for one appreciate this post. I have read every book, article, and post I could over the last few years trying to gain an advantage over the shops just doing the same old thing evertime. That is what led me to the SCR/DCR debate. I have recently been to several very popular performance shops (circletrack, dragrace, street performance oriented), none seem to care abour dcr. They all try the same old static compression #'s and call the cam companies for the best stick for the job. None seem to communicate with them ahead of time to see if they could +/- the static for best results. That said, my last carb'd setup was a 406 with 9.66 dcr(by my calculations) and 182-183 lbs of compression. Ran on 92 octane.

Well I am running 13.3-1 static with a 9.0 DCR(BIG cam). Have not done a full test on pump gas yet but I feel it will be OK. I built it to run on Pump gas with that static.

Yep,
Exactly. That is where I get a little confused....How many times have we read that 9.5:1-10.25:1 is max static for street gas. I wonder if there is a way for me to calculate what the effective compression ratio of an engine is using compression readings....anyone?
