the water pump doesn't run off of the belt there is a shaft coming out of the motors that runs the impeller.

As far as wiring you can buy a wiring kit with your new pump like $30 or there are a couple of sites eith what you ned to wire the pump

Also i went with the csi - with the meziere i think you you have to grind some of the fan shroud with the csi you don't and the csi is cheaper. i got it from summit

hope this helps

Another vote for the CSI waterpump.

Sup Jus...I debated over this a long time a month ago when I rebuilt my motor. I found the cons outweighed the pros. At least with the reg waterpump when it goes you still can drive it home and stuff. The electric one goes you usually wont know it until its too late. Then you might have to grind stuff, hook up wiring. Do a search on the subject. I looked over this for some time before just going with the ol fashion pump.

I've heard they both perform about the same.

With the Meziere you have to modify the fan shroud.
With the CSI you have to modify the waterpump housing.

Take your pick.

its not hard to modify the fan shroud. I simply took some vice grips and broke away the plastic. Also the water pump can be wired so that a light comes on when it fails.

I have the Meziere pump. Modding the fan housing is not hard to do. DO NOT use the supplied inline fuse for the pump. Mine was not making good contact, and I swapped it for a crimp on fuseholder that uses blade type fuses. The original fuseholder going out caused a blown headgasket last year. Use a good holder and you'll be ok.

I plan on installing a Powerlight. That will stay activie when it's running. If it doesn't come on then we know why.

I ran wires from the positive and negative sides of the pump inside the car. Inside, I used a relay with a normally-closed contact (When power to the relay is off, the relay completes one circuit, and when the power to the relay is on, it completes a second, different circuit). I used this relay to switch between two LEDs: a green one that comes on when the pump has power, and a red one that comes on when the pump DOES NOT have power. Basically, if any part of the circuit comes loose or the fuse blows, the light inside the car will change to red. If you want, you could hook up a buzzer or something to give you an audible warning.

The wiring under the hood is similar to what the other diagrams posted earlier use.

I made sure to use the round plastic tubing similar to what the car makers use for all the wiring. That helps protect it from damage, since the water pump is a critical part of the engine.
