That's the high pressure Select pump. I think you could get the white spring for less than $25 though.

They have two different HV pumps as well. One is 10% more and one is 25% more. The standard M55HV is 25% more volume. What do you think about running the 10% more volume with a stock pan? Could get that and install the white spring for higher pressure. It comes with the hardened driveshaft and anti-cavitation capable. It does note that the anti-cavitation does slightly reduce oil pressure at idle.
Will running a 25% more pump on a stock pan cause problems?

Yes, the standard HV pump has caused oil starvation with stock pans in many cases.

So will the stock pump running at the factory oil pressure be ok to build say a 355 or a 383 with a mild cam? Or would you need the HV [ump and a different pan?

Depends on the RPM you want to turn I think.

So how about this combo.
The Melling 10553 standard flow oil pump with the GM white spring in a 355 reving to 6.5K RPM?
That will bump pressure up just a bit without out pan dry issues I hope.

I have a HV pump which looks different from the standard comparison pics; can anyone verify if I have the old or new design?
thanks,

So if I currently have a M155HV pump waiting to go in my motor what should I switch it out for? Is the 10552 the best alternative???

Will a 10% increase over stock be ok or will it drain the pan as well??

When I put my 383 together, I noticed the Melling HV stud mount hole was not drilled @ Rt angle to the block mount face. I releaved the hole a bit so the stud would not result in additional casting stress when torqued. Melling quality control sucks. So far, I still have 40+ psi oil press @ idle. I hope it does not break. Also used a Canton road pan.
