which for me? Hotcam or EX224/230
Can you break into the 11's w/ 370 rwhp...? Just curious. I haven't ran mine yet, but I've seen others with my setup, if not sometimes less than what I'm running and they're in the mid/high 11's...
Yeah there's guys who could go low 11's with 370rwhp. Those guys have an *** load of money into their suspensions, ET Streets, 12 bolt, Street Twin, probably weight around 3200lbs, and can drive really well.
I doubt I'll be there for a while but am hopeing for mid 12's @110+. That's a reasonable goal for myself. How much money you have to spend will determine your ET IMO.

Ok, it sounds like I'll be much better off then just going with the 224/230. Besides new lifters, timing chain and new springs to handle the lift, is there anything else I should get?
I ran the 224/230 with the stock stall for a year. The only problem I had with it was a bit of creeping when stopped. Just had to press the brakes a little harder with the 850 rpm. Definitely install a cooler though.
As for driveability, it's fine. Couldn't be happier with the choice - plus there's still plenty left for when I get my heads done.

S.J.S.- The Hotcam is considerably smaller than the 224/230. (CC503). The 224/230 has more duration and alot more lift, .536/.544 actually. The Hotcam is 218/228 at .050 and maximum of .525/.525 lift, closer to the specs of the CC502.

If you look at advertised duration specs, which are taken typically at .006 lift..the hotcam has more duration. What this means is it will bleed off cylinder pressure more at lower rpms, which leads to less driveability. Total overlap will also be greater.
Yet this still does not tell the whole story. At .200 lift, the XE grind, thanks to its more agressive ramps, has quite a bit more duration than the Hotcam.
In a nutshell, the XE cam opens the valve later and closes it quicker, but it reaches peak lift faster and holds it near peak lift longer. What this does is give you the positive effects of a bigger cam w/o the driveability issues that go along with it. This is why I recommend the XE grind...you're going to get more power with the same or slightly better driveability than the Hotcam.
Comp's catalog has a section that lists all their lobe grinds, and gives advertised, .050 and .200 lift duration numbers. That way you can compare magnum cams like the cc305 to XE grinds, etc. VERY informative.
Just an FYI, 3 runs down the track was enough to blow my tranny (with less than 50K on it) with the 224/230. Unless you have a shift kit or some kind of buildup, you might want to be careful.

...but of course, like everyone else, I'm always wondering "what if I went a little bigger?" I'm really curious how a 230/236 drives now...blah.

i'm running the 230 236 112. i would like a little lope at idle but the performance is great. reliable and good fuel mileage, but i dont know about emmisions we dont have them here.
until about 1500 its pretty bumpy, starts to smooth out and by the time its to 2000-2500 its pretty smooth. hopefully i'll have some times for it tonight
