may be dumb but why 327cid???

may be dumb but why 327cid???

It says that on the front of my block. I thought it was supposed to be a 350.

it is a 350 its just a block code

No one seems to know why it's stamped there. 327 is just an identification number, and doesn't indicate anything special.

I think GM just likes to mess with our minds.

Sounds like a big block ford. All 352's-428 FE big block fords are that way. I bought a car cause it was suppose to have a 428 in it and when i was tearing it town it had a 352 stamped on the front i was pissed. When i tore it down farther and checked the bore and stroke i found it was a cobra jet.

I believe a 350 is nothing more than a 327 block that is bored out. A bunch of engines are like that and have the small Ci number on the block.

Well a 327 is actually a shorter stroke but same bore. The casting numbers on most production blocks have no meaning to the consumer. The lt1 is no exception.

Yea...I was confused until I read "GM 5.7L" cast into the back of the block were the trans bolts up.
