Matching Ports

Now my friends LT1 (heads, cam, ported intake manifold) didnt make as much power as we thought it might...and one conclusion we have come up with was that the air isnt flowing great from the intake to the head intake port due to the fact that the intake manifold port is larger than the head intake port. Does anyone have any clue if this could be the case on why the power was down and the torque was WAYY down?

Thanks, Zack

Re: Matching Ports

The intake ports being larger than the head ports shouldn't really hurt the performance. Was the car dyno tuned? What did the a/f ratio look like? Post some more specific details about the car and the dyno run and we'll be able to help you better.

Re: Matching Ports

k well i got his dyno sheets after some convincing, lol

and here's what it reads was dyno tuned with a 13.0 a/f across the board and the torque is even across to, doesnt spike or slowly drop at the end, spun it to about 6200rpm.

Car has a different gear in it as well as rearend. Car looks like it moves out pretty good and g-tech (as accurate as it is) says it ran some OK times and mph's like a motha

Just i told him that SOME LE1 packages put down around 390 to the wheels or atleast thats what the website says.

And i would think the the air would sorta swirl in the intake port due to not all of the air being able to be sucked in...if you catch what im trying to say

Its not a big deal...just wondering on why his car didnt make that much power

Now you HAVE to post the dyno sheets. LE talks big... lets see real world results!

(Not to say that 330/330 wouldn't still be reasonable, but 390 always made me skeptical.

You must be talking about a different LE because Lloyd Elliot sandbags his numbers if anything.

Doesn't take much searching to find LE1 dyno results in this forum that exceed his claims.

Re: Matching Ports

Well...its not a LE package at all...just a cc306 cam and some ported stock heads. Along w/ a Fully ported lt4 intake manifold....maxed out at the ports because it used to be on a forced induction car

put down 340/325....the torque is terrible!
