Mass Air vs. Speed Density

What kind of disadvantages would I have if I switched to speed density on my '95 LT1? (I see a lot of hot rods just put the air filter on the throttle body).

Anyone? Will the engine run a better A/F ratio w/ the mass air? Does it make a difference?

So later if I got the hotcam it would probably run better w/ the MAF?

If the tuning is correct it will run great in speed density. It can become time consuming getting those VE tables perfected though In some ways SD can give a person more control over the fueling parameters. My car runs better in SD than it did when I (stuipidly) ported my MAF. I have invested LOTS of time in tuning however.

While you can simply mount the air filter on the throttle body when running speed density it would still be preferable to run a "proper" induction. Hot air is not conducive to making power
