Just installed new granatelli mass air flow sensor from summit. As soon as I started the car I noticed the rpms was bouncing from 500 to 900. That never really happened before. Car also shook a little bit in park or when I was stopped at a light. Is this normal?

 

Sounds like a vacum leak. Have had my GMS MAF on & off several times & no problems like you describe. Did you disconnct you battery per instructions ?

clear the computer and see what happens

 

Im kinda new at this. How do I clear the computer? I figured id wait a week or so to see if it would learn on its own. Car still shakes and rpms jump up and down a bit when idling

 

58MM TB, G-MAF, HPP, A-4. I'm not surprised that you might have some problems.

Well I just came back from my friend whose a mechanic. he plugged his computer in and ran some tests and fianlly said the sensor was defective. So im going to send it back to the company for another one. He has a 2000 firebird ws6. He also had installed a massair sensor and his engine light went on. So he returned his, got a new one and now it works just fine. So I guess I got a defective one. For now its back to the stock one. Thanx for all the replies!
