Lightbulb Mass Air Flow

Ok... I plan on getting an after market mass airflow sensor, but in the mean time, Ive heard of people "hollowing" them out by cutting the screen out... all of the pics that i have seen with them done look clean. I decided to rip mine out and try it, but Im not going to rip the screen and mess something up... any thoughts?

Re: Mass Air Flow

Don't get one and don't port the maf they are not a restriction. all the aftermarket maf sensor does is lean out the fuel mixture. you can get more horsepower by just getting the computer tuned by madz28.com or pcmforless. it's cheaper and will give you the oppurtunity to have them reprogram your computer for cheaper if you ever change anything. with the extra money you can buy other things that will give you more horsepower ie catback, headers, etc. Porting will only mess up the calibration with the computer.

Re: Mass Air Flow

Dont mess with performance or aftermarket air flow sensors until you are beyond 500 horsepower...

Re: Mass Air Flow

Stock works fine, and the "screen" causes no problems. As noted above, you get the best results by "tuning", not by using band-aids like "recalibrated" MAF sensors, and it costs you a lot less.
