Which MAP Sensor for '93 24x LT1?
Which MAP Sensor for '93 24x LT1?
Ok so I recently installed the 24x conversion on my '93 LT1 along with some other mods. A question I ran into early on was what MAP sensor would I be using. When my harness was being built they asked what I'd want and I believe I told them a 3 bar (Does this make a difference in what plug they'd put on the harness or something?). Anyway I gave them a call and they told me I'd be able to use my current sensor since "they're all the same." Anyway that's where my main question comes in for everyone here. We tried hooking up the plug in my new harness to my '93 map sensor and the plug is slightly different. Very close to being the same, but not quite. Does anyone here know what sensor I need? LS1? I noticed the part number on all '93-'97 LT1 sensors is the same so I'm just kind of lost here. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Are you running forced induction in excess of 15psi boost? That's the only application that would use a 3 bar map sensor. Your stock 93 sensor is 1 bar.

Re: Which MAP Sensor for '93 24x LT1?
The photos I have seen of various MAP connectors show that the "keying" is different for 1 bar and 3 bar.
For the two parts you listed, the first one seems to be for use in normally aspirated 89 applications (1 bar), while the second one is for the 89 turbo application (3 bar?).
Are you asking should you initially tune it using a 1 bar sensor? That would seem to make sense if it not going to be boosted for a while. But then there's the issue of having to change the connector.
Or maybe I just missed the point of the question.
