I not much older that you (I am 22), and I know that 300Hp is way to much for anybody (on street car). 99% of the time you wont use in on teh street!!! and if you do you are dumpass!!! Before you do anything, find a friend with regular car with manual transmission (and RWD is possible), and drive it around. Drive it in the raid, feel how the RWD car handles. There is nothing more suprising, when for the first time your car goes sidewaysand you are going 40MPH (thanks gor the was no cars near me!!!)...Learn how to drive and then drive. I am not tellig you want to do (this is your parents job).

Badass2k1, I was in Colorado Springs for Christmas and New Years. I saw one out there, it was a white with orange stripes, had to been a 97, it was also debadge. You sure you want one..because you're not gonna get much traction in the snow and you know how often it snows down there. The camaro I saw down therer he was holding up traffic big time trying to drive in the snow.

"remember with great power comes great responsibility"

true....but instead of quoting spiderman, I would personally say just go for it. Im 18 now, when i was 16 I payed cash i had worked for since i was 14 for a V6 Camaro - $5000, 70k miles..... i talked the guy down from the over priced $9,000 or whatever... but did i get a deal? no. the week after i bought the V6, i had myself asking "i wonder how the 8cyl would feel?" and id try to convince myself that there wouldnt be TOO much of a differnce.....ha.......

so anyways, beginning of february came and i just decided it would save me in the long run to buy a Z28 for the following reasons: 1 - problems began to develop with the V6 camaro that ended costing the person i sold it too over $1,000 2 - better value if i sold the car then rather than later 3 - i also think without the manual transmission today, i would have developed severe psychological problems......

so in the end, i sold the V6 for $4500, purchased my Z for about $9,000, and with the $4,500 and the rest of the money i had worked for until that date payed the car off immediately when i was 17. and heres the best part, insurance costs me $320 every 6 months thanks to some friends in the business.........ppl always get pissed when i tell them that.

whatr should you do? well if ur all about the system and the body kits, etc, etc....... then i would go with a 5 spd manual V6....then u can do w/e u want to it, and since it doesnt seem ur too into modding, speed shouldnt be a problem....and with this, youll still take civics...

good luck

Not to oppose what the older, wiser members have said but I am 16 and I drive a '95 Z28 M6 and have a perfect driving record to date.
That dosn't mean a thing, my 16 year old son has a perfect record and drives like a absolote idiot. He wanted a camaro too. I got him a 95 with a 3.8 V6. Hell, it's got 200 HP and is faster than 90% of his friends Hondas and other assorted rice burners. I can't wait till he wrecks it so I can tell him the next car is on him.

Not to **** anybody off, but %80 or more of all male teens are not responsible enough to drive a car like that (I'm not sure I'm not responsible enough to drive one ).

Get a Z28 Badass2k1. I got my 96 just after I turned 17. I've wanted a Camaro since I knew what a car was and a 4th gen since I was 7-8 years old when they came out in 93. I was in the same spot as you, looking for a 6-speed Z28 but I needed t-tops, power everything, cloth seats and most importantly it had to be Sebvring Silver. That exact car is in my sig. I found one in auto trader that is identical to mine but it sold 1 month before I could buy it. Then I found another and got it. Patience is what it takes in buying the right car. The exact car you want is out there, just be patient. My friend drove to Pennsylvania to get his 1990 Mustang GT from the Detroit area. If you want it bad enough you need to be willing to go get it too.
In general, yes 16-19 yr old kids arent responsible enough to drive these cars, my 15 good friends with stock-12.0@111 mph fox-bodies prove it almost on a daily basis. I'm the only person in our group to not get pulled over EVER. I dont base everything on stereo-types though, so dont listen to these people trying to push you away from buying an F-body. Hell, my best friend's little brother is getting a 99-2001 ram air Trans Am in the summer and he just turned 16 last week (they just love the LS1).

Yeah man, no disrespect to the elders but I have to say that it's just a sterotype to say that kids will always be abusing high horsepower cars.

I got my '93 Z28 A4 when I was 17 and I have never been pulled over in it for doing something stupid(pulled over for like "Can't see license plates," but that's a diff. story...). Find your F-Body, get it with a 350 or you will regret it(unless you're doing a drag car). I plan on swapping my A4 out to an M6 within the next 6 months. But as I said, get your F-Body and enjoy it...when these cars first came out kids were using them, nothing has changed, just don't be the sterotype....ok now i'm rambling on...point is: get an F-Body, be happy with it, not stupid...just because the power is there doesn't mean you have to use it, knowing it's there is all the more fun.

Ok guys let the guy buy what he wants. How would you like it if you had the money and everyone was telling you not to buy it because your "not responsible enough"? The thing I don't get is why older people seem to beable to buy cars and go fast but younger ones can't? Just look at all those irresponsible 30+ yearold guys racing vetts, vipers, ferraris, street racing. You don't see too many teenagers racing at 100+mph on the streets in those cars do ya?

Well 96Z28TealM6 if you visited Colorado Springs this Christmas than you would know we only got two days of actual snow like this whole winter including the recent snow we just got. First time was nothing, was gone the next morning. The 2nd time we got snow it was about all day and has been on the ground for awile, but still not that bad. You might think Colorado Springs gets alot of snow but try living here. The weather is way different than you all think. What area where you in for christmas? Because I think I might know which one you could be talking about.

Anyways I am still gonna get a camaro. My parents know that I am responsible enough to get one. Me and my friends aren't gonna be stupid and just race anyone we see. As it is my firends have a 03 Chevy S10 Exteme, 86 Civic, and one has a 99 Saturn SL1 and a 88 Toyota pickup and when they are driving around they don't just race anyone anywhere. The one in the Saturn likes to try racing sometimes but its never in the middle of the day and theres no cops around ever either.

I agree about the stereo type thing. My friends don't have any speeding tickets and another kid at school has either a 67 or 72 Mustang and a 01 Mustang and has no tickets. Other friends have a Tiburon and an Integra with no speeding tickets.

So give up on telling me not to get one. As long as my parents say ok, which they have, then I am getting one. I will show you all pics when iI do to. I'll post some pics of my friends cars when we take them which will be on Matin Luther King day. Hopefully sooner.

Badass2k1, I was staying by Highway 83 where owners have a private area...palmer drive(does that ring a bell)..and I was on Academy drive I believe when this happen...I already know I can't live out there, it would take me a while to adjust..shoot it was 5 degrees out there..I'm not use to that lol...but anyways if you still wanna get a camaro z28 be careful. You're right it was only two days of snow..but it got crazy on the roads though. Plus I think the camaro had a large tail, not too big though

I somewhat agree with other members of this board in saying that a kid in high school doesn't need a muscle car.. of course, when I was 15 my parents bought me a 79 camaro shell and I got to build it up.. so when I was 16 I had a slightly faster car than most other people in my school, and belive it or not, I didn't drive like an *** the whole time I owned it. I sold that car a year ago(I'm 20 now). not all teenagers are bad drivers, just a huge majority of them.
seriously though to whoever started this thread, you come off as one of those kids that will seriously injure themselves by having a fast car.. my old camaro may have been quick, but I was more occupied with how it looked than how it performed when I had it so I tried to drive it the best I could so I couldn't **** it up.

Okay so if you want to have f-body that badly, buy Firebird V6....looks awesome and it is also very fast. You will save enough money for nice GFX kit and killer sound system..

i have to agree with the older guys and if you are gonna get one, get an inexpensive one dont put all your money into it, im 23 and i wanted a camaro when i was 16, when the new body style came out my dad was gonna get me a ss in 98 until he drove it, i ended up gettin a v-6 which now i see was for the best, i have a 500HP car now but i still find myself drivin different then i did then. my best friend was killed in his Z along with his gf this last year because he drove aggressively, and he was 25. we had identical cars and everytime i drive mine i think of him. just keep stuff like that in mind, kids dont need power, they just want the attention of a sports car. like i said, sorry but i agree with the older fellas

Tell me please what is the first thing that 99% of the people ask here when they buying a Fbody..."how to make it faster". What is the first thing that ricer does what they buying a car: make is look nice and have killer sound system so that can show off in front of their friends.
Read the guy post, and please tell me what your first impression was??? He is not a typical F-body guy, that’s why I said that. And btw GET A LIFE
