Manual Transmission
Manual Transmission
Looking online for where I live, most of the used camaros that i want, 93-97, are all automatic that I could possibly afford. here what they have on one site....
95 109000 Miles $5488 auto
95 68000 Miles $10995 auto
96 59000 Miles $20000 manual
97 55000 Miles $10995 auto
97 124000 Miles $5988 auto
The only manual is one that i prob couldn't afford. I want a manual and would like to know about how much it would be to take it from auto to manual and also, if I need to cause of milage, replace the engine.

are those prices for real??? i purchased my T/A a month ago (86k miles, all bolt ons, cam, M6, custom hood), for $5900. Look at www.ebay.com....
If you want M6 (6 speed) dont buy A4 (4 speed automatic), just wait for right M6. The transmission swap is real PITA, abd it will cost you a lot!!! So just wait and save $$ until you find right car for you...

Well, It would prob be awhile before there will be a manual around here that I could afford. Been looking for awhile. I want to get it before this summer because that's when I will be able to go drive around with my friends and go do stuff.
Me and my friend were thinking that I could get an automatic for now and then later when I work more over the summer, get the transmission and get it put in. Thats why I would like to know how much it would cost. I know I want to do the body and system first though. Which ever comes up first though.
So if you all could give me an idea of a price range, it would help me out alot.

Let me guess...You are 18 or less, and huge fan of 2 Fast and 2 Gay...I am sorry, but putting a nice sound system and gfx kit on your car is the thing that ricers do. Anyway, if you want to convert real American muscle car in to "ricer toy" you are not welcome!!!
My advice But a Honda civic, nice body kit, showoff sound system and you will be happy with that!!!!
Anyway, to convert from A4 to M6 you will have to spend about $2000 if you will do it yourself (but I don’t think so). If you want to pay somebody to do that, you will looking at over $3500. The best thing is buying a nice M6!!! Just look outside our area. When I purchased my first F-body (1995 Camaro), I had to drive 900 miles for it (but it was worth it). You can find real nice M6 with about 85k miles for less than $7000. I might be selling my
very soon...

I was in your situation about four months ago when I picked up my car. I wanted a '95 with leather/ttop/m6 and as stock as possible. I ended up spending $6k for my car. It had a few little things done to it but overall it was stock. It had 120k on the clock and was pretty much immaculate. No dents, dings, never been in an accident, interior was perfect. You get the idea.
Turns out she burns some oil. Well, she burns quite a bit of oil. The tranny is also on it's way out. It's vibrating and I can feel the second and third gear syncros are going out. It's still very driveable and I don't really notice it if I drive it half way normal.
My point however is that these cars require upkeep. It's expected that after 100k miles things are going to start to go out on you. I plan to keep this car for a long time and basically wanted a car that was taken care of and free of body damage. I'm planning on doing an engine swap and the tranny is a given, it's going to need replacing.
Sooooo.... if you're in it for the long haul and plan on having this be your car then sure, jump on whatever deal you can find. You could drive the auto for a while and in the meantime save for a brand new M6 that can withstand some hp. Basically what I'm saying is if you're keeping this car for a while and you like working on them then get whatever you can find that's a good price. Afterall you're going to replace the engine/tranny/suspension at some point. If you're not planning on keeping it then save your money and get a car with low miles that you won't need to put a lot of time/money into.

Try 16 and 17 this summer. I have always wanted a camaro ever since I knew about them (porb back in 5th or 6th grade) and not a huge fan of 2 fast 2 furious. If i was I would get an eclipse or something like everyone else wants because of that movie. I don't want a civic either because I want something different and I see about 10 just about everyday. One of my friends has like an 86 and I know like 3 other people at my school with a civic. (don't want the same thing as everyone else) Nobody at my school drives a camaro and there aren't a whole lot around my area that are like what I want to do with mine. I can show you what I have seen and what I might want to do with mine. I want it to since it is American muscle. I don't want to completly change it like that one with the exhast coming from the word camaro in the back.
About a year ago my dad got me an 85 camaro, great condition for only $400 from some guy he worked with in military. My dads and mechanic to, so we fixed it up some, but then he sold it saying I couldn't pay insurance even though I could. So now I want to get my own myself.
Anyways...
I do plan on keeping this car for awhile. Thats why I am worried about milage and all that. I am willing to spend the money when i get it and replace what ever I need to.
How exactly would I go about looking outside my area like online?
Any suggestions for looking around for what I would need to replace?

Be patient. Wait until you find what you want. Make it the first one you buy and a keeper. Don't sweat the mileage. Just inspect it or pay one the auto inspection companies to do it for you if it is too far away.
Heck keep an eye out here on FS forum.
Good luck.

This isn't going to be what you want to hear but I wish someone had given me this advice when I was your age.
Buy something cheap...$1000. Something that will get you from point A to point B and not break down. You don't need 300hp at your age. I used to drive like an jerk when I was your age, I know how it is. You'll get yourself speeding tickets, maybe a few accidents and it'll take years to recover. Your record will be terrible and you won't be able to afford insurance on anything.
Get something you can just drive. Save your money, keep a good driving record. Wait till you're making a little better money than you are now (you are working right?). Then you can afford insurance and modifications to a Z. Otherwise you're going to be struggling to pay off the car, pay for repairs, pay for tickets, and worst of all increasing insurance rates. Most guys your age don't handle 300hp very well, I was no different.

I know what I'm doing and I am still gonna get a camaro. I know kids at my school same age with brand new Mustang, one with a Tiburon, and another friend with a Integra which is pretty nice. Not sure exactly what the hp is but have yet to find out they have gotten any tickets.
Haha I'm sorry but reading your post made me laugh. "I know what I'm doing." When I was your age, my parents wouldn't even let me start driving until I got my grades up to get a good student discount. So I quit playing sports, and I concentrated on school. You're 16 going on 17, I figure you're probably 10th or 11th grade? You don't need a Camaro at your age. I'm 19 and I don't need a Camaro at my age. I drive the thing like a f*cking idiot and I'm likely to kill myself one of these days. Seriously just heed everyone elses and my advice to just get a simple car for now and wait until later. It's just not worth whatever could and most likely would go wrong. My first vehicle was a 1979 Chevy k5 blazer. A behemoth truck. 350 v8, probably put out low to mid 200 hp. 2 months into licensed driving I hit a Volvo and caused maybe 2000$ worth of damage but they settled for 1000$. I had all these big plans for that truck, but I ultimately decided to say f*ck it. In September 2 weeks before I was getting ready to start college my girlfriend backed into my truck and put a fat dent in my drivers side door. I drove with that dent and an inoperable drivers side door for my entire freshman year. I asked and asked my parents to get me a Camaro and they finally got me one for my 19th birthday. Haha I mean yeah I'm totally stoked about having this car, and I've had it for about a month and a half now, but it's just too much car for someone who doesn't need it. Just last night I was driving back to my apartment and an Accord and Civic flew past me so like a typical dumbass I decided to race them. I beat them naturally but at the same time while going about 130 came very very very close to killing another person. A Jetta pulled in front of me and I literally had my brakes fully pressed in. I came within a couple feet of hitting her. What's the point. I'm also in the process of finishing my system. I have over 1000$ worth of equipment waiting to get put in. And for what? Some douchebag that's gonna steal it? It's all a waste. Just get a Honda Civic 4 banger. Spend 200$ on a system. You'll wow your whole highschool. You can't handle a Camaro. Not at your age. Not responsibly.
Sorry, but everyones right. Kids drive like A-holes. I'm 19-20 (not sure anymore), though i have a spotless driving record; never pulled over once or got in an accident. But i am by no means a normal person (just look at my user name), but still score a point for responcible young people. Even if there are about 10 of us in this country. Hey, though, prove the stereotype wrong, be intelligent, good luck and dont hurt anyone.
As for how my reply is of use to anyone- My advise is to use autotrader.com they have a HUGE selection of EVERYTHING automobile you can buy.
It's very helpfull. Thats how i bought my car after someone else wanted my first car more than me, and stole it.

Not to oppose what the older, wiser members have said
but I am 16 and I drive a '95 Z28 M6 and have a perfect driving record to date. I not only pay for the car but the insurance and gas too. Its tough, these cars require alot of keep up and if you neglect them its going to cost more in the long run.
325ft-lbs of torque is like a highly addictive drug once you experience it you just want more and more. But you have to harness that power and know when and more importantly when not to use it.
I'm not going to tell you not to buy a Z but if you do be careful and remember with great power comes great responsibility.
