Manual Fan Switch

Ok i'm not sure if this is where this post goes, i think it does because its got to do with the LT1 engine fan system and i don't know if any of the other engines have the same fan system so i didn't put it in the genreal fourm. But anyways, i don't feel good about cuting and splicing into teh wires going to the fan realys. So i did some experiments and took the back plane off the relay and found out which wires went where on top of the realy. When i found out which wire went where, i took a peice of wire and stuck down in the hole. Than put the relay back on top of that, turn the switch on, and grounded that wire. And the fans kicked on and everything was working good. I was wondering is it ok to do it this way or can something go wrong? Just wondering.

Re: Manual Fan Switch

quick and easy way to do this is buy the SLP fan switch thats pretty much plug and play. Just an idea. Not saying your way is unsafe but i wouldnt trust it.

Re: Manual Fan Switch

I'm not paying $70 for some switch when i can do my own for free. Got all teh stuff for free . Plus i have it with high and low speeds. So is that way safe?

Re: Manual Fan Switch

Kind of a messy way to do it, but if you are grounding the relay control leads, there not much harm in it (other than you don't need the fans to run all the time).

For less than $10 you can make your own fan switch.
