Angry Major problems past 4000rpms. HELP!

My car is really starting to become a pain in the ***. Over the past few days every time I give it gas past 4000rpms its almost like it goes into neutral. It makes absolutly no power and revs much faster than normal up to 5900rpms.Up to about 3300 rpms that car acts perfectly normal though. It seems like the engine is operating fine but the tranny or something is not able to get the power to the rear wheels. Can someone help and tell me what this could be?

From your desciption,it sounds like the trans is slipping.Check the level and condition of the fluid.Have it tested.

I agree it sounds like the trans try pulling it down into first gear and then manually moving it into second. See if it still does it. Could be the OD sprag is hosed or that the line pressure is down. Pulling it down to 1st should up the line pressure and keep it from putting pressure on the OD sprag.

I just checked the tranny fluid and its seems just fine. Do you guys think it could be something else? Thanks!

Is it only when the car is under load that this happens? If so you can rest assured it's more than likely your tranny. How many miles on the car?

There are 87k miles on the car but the tranny was rebuilt at 68k. It only happens when you get the rpms to about 3500-4000.

Check the fluid level first along with color condition. Black fluid=bad tranny

But if its slipping under load its probbaly a clutch pack barely hanging on for life.

Tranny fluid is light brown. But if it was the cluth pack wouldnt it be bad during every shift even at low rpms?
