Maintenance questions

Just curious if the coil and ICM need replacing at usual intervals like the water pump and the opti or if its usually just random... What about the fuel pump and egr valve, already replaced the egr solenoid...

Re: Maintenance questions

The coil is ~ $40 and can't hurt to replace, can only improve spark.

The mechanical WP should be replaced if it's leaking and/or you want to free up 10 HP by switching to an electric piece.

The opti IMHO isn't worth the hastle because chances are if it goes once it is liable to go again. I went through FOUR opti's before I finally opted for the Delteq coil system and what a difference!!

The fuel pump should last a long time, but if it goes upgrade to the Racetronix pump & harness.

I can't comment on the EGR since I took mine off within the first week of owning the car

Hope this helps.

Unless you just want to, I would not change those things unless they are failing. The EGR you can check for proper operation and/or clean out any carbon buildup. You can check fuel pump pressure with a test gauge. The ICM usually works or it doesn't. The coil is basically the same way, but sometimes can give degraded performance that is noticeable.
