The whole motor is being pulled out because it blew a headgasket. If the motor is out does it make sense to do cam bearings???

In an effort to keep this thread from going on for pages, just wanted to update that the bearings aren't going to be changed. There's no indication that there is a problem with them, it was just a "might as well while I'm in there" idea.

We have to roll in new bearing shells with the crankshaft in place on the diesel engines at work, but that's partly because you have to take the roof off the building to get the top half of the block off to pull the crank. But you can also check bearing clearance without removing the caps in an engine that you can crawl inside the crankcase of.
