main caps?

main caps?

i need to find #1 and #5 main caps for my lt1 where can i go? gm doesn't sell them anymore.

Since the block will obviously need to be align honed anyway, mabe think about getting some aftermarket caps, or better yet, have it set up for splayed 4 bolt caps......Joe

Are you sure GM doesn't sell them? I may be wrong on this one, but aren't they standard SBC parts?

i went to the dealer today and their computer sai non servicable and he said he couldn't get them. i wasn't sure if i could use the standard main caps or not. i've already get 4 bolt billet's for the 2,3,4 caps i just need the out side ones.

There is less strress than on the center caps, that why many people use stock iron end caps. There are steel replacements though. If your stock cpas are in good shape, just reuse them unless this is an extremely hi-po buildup. Otherwise, you can use regular stock caps for a 2-piece rear seal SBC, AFAIK.

Make sure they get the #5 set up correctly, with the thrust main it's not just a clip the cap and hone job, that's why you typically only replace the center 3.

do you know where i can buy one at? i bought the block with out #5, i've been searching google and can only find the callies replacement witch is 350 $
