A mail order tune will gives you a nice boost in power even with a bolt on car.
Depending on the year, you can also tune to calibrate the speedometer for gear installs and adjust shift points
You can also delete codes (ie: emissions)
My personal opinion is that a mail order tune is #3 behind CAI and catback on the list of mods to do to a stock car.

You'll great a great product from Fastchip.com (Ed Wright), MadZ28 or PCMForless.

A dyno tune on the other hand is something you will want to hold off on.
There's really no point in spending that money for a bolt-on car.

Changing the gears will throw off the speedometer so that alone would make me get one. You should see some hp gains and they aren't that much so its up to you. They offer email tunes that are only $75 so if you have the cable and laptop thats an option.

With gears you will need a tune either way, might as well get a full mail order tune and add some power and improve some other things.

I had done a few bolt on's on my car, and after using Data Master to data log it. I couldn't believe how much it would run rich to lean and back and forth. I used PCMFORLESS to tune my car and after installing the tune I data log it again and the car no longer run rich to lean and back and forth like it did before. For that reason alone it is worth getting a tune. There is nothing better than a efficient running car. Oh and the xtra power is nice too.

Either that, or you send them yours & tell them what you want, but if you get one from them first, there will be a core charge untill you send them yours.

Generally, that is how it works. You can send him your current PCM, that will result in a little more downtime though. He has an order form on his website where you fill in your mods and specs for your engine.

No, he doesn't need to know about plugs and wires.

Do you mean the O2 readings were jumping back and forth rapidly between rich and lean, in closed loop (part load/part throttle)?

I meant my LTerm, and STerm counts. Which when you use the graph it shows the colors red as rich and green as lean. Now I am new to this so I could be wrong this is just what I have gathered from using Data Master here recently for the first time.
