Heres a video of my car with just the Magnaflow muffler.

Its pretty aggressive sounding so people will definately hear you coming. At cruise its very civil. I'm not exactly sure how much different the full catback would sound, but that should give you an idea.

Arrow

The cam is pretty big, but without cats and LTs, it will still be just as loud.

Mine sounds nothing like that....maybe we don't have the same muffler. Mine is a very mellow rumble and kind of sounds like a dynomax super turbo.

Well from what I've heard I like the sound of the Magnaflow, might give it a try. I can always get the GMMG when I get more into my mods. Thanks for everyone's input.

SteveO - Is it just me or were your tail lights blue? If so are those legal or no? Seems like the cops wouldn't like those blue lights too much.

Summit sells a Flowmaster Cat-Back for the LT1. PN FLO-17143, its the American Thunder system.

I have another question for the Magnaflow, did anyone have any driveshaft clearance problems with it?

I've had several catbacks over the years. 2 of which were Hooker and Magnaflow. IMO the Magnaflow is better quality and sound.

Blue? Hmmm, must be your monitor or media player settings. They're the stock, red housings.

My muffler

At first it was really quiet, then over the course of about 2 weeks it opened up to what you heard in the video.

There's my muffler. If anything it's shorter than yours, what do you think?

Hooker is quiet and has a nice lil "rumble" to it. Makes some noise at WOT. But,.....that's why you yank off the cat. Then it's incredibly loud, mean, and has one hell of a growl. I make noise everywhere I go with it. I absolutely LOVE the hooker cat-back and I have received nothing but compliments on it.

Hmmm.. our mufflers look identical. Maybe its due to the fact that your car being a 96 has dual cats.

I got tired of my Magnaflow droning on acceleration. I put a Moroso spiral twister bullet inline before the axle and it took about 10 db off the noise with hardly any noticeable loss in power. But then I'm 45.
A regular bullet will take the edge off the noise at part throttle for those who's ears hurt without cutting the note at WOT much at all.
Those spiral bullets work very well as mufflers.

I run the Magnaflow cat-back system on my Formula...

I have stock everything except for what's noted in my sig.

Here's the deal on the clips... Play the stock one first to get the volume set. It's hard to hear the first one because the stock system was so quiet. The 2nd clip is the magnaflow system.

I recorded BOTH clips from the same distance behind the car, used the same thing to record them (my laptop), and in both cases the laptop was centered from left to right between the tips.

I did it this way so as to get the best direct comparison possible. I have been told that my clip is the most realistic clip of the Magnaflow that people have heard... I guess I just got lucky..,,

Anyway, on to the clips:

Stock Exhaust

Magnaflow

Remember, the only thing to change was the exhaust from the cat-back on the car.

EDIT: For some reason, my muffler has a polished, mirror-like finish... Odd...
