MAF Problem or something else???
MAF Problem or something else???
I have a 95 Trans Am M6 and it has been running crappy lately. After it warms up while driving at a constant speed for example like 40MPH at 2K RPMs It will suddely just drop about 100-200 RPMs and seems like it stalled for a split second. Also while backing out or into my driveway after warm it sometimes stalls. It also idles around 800-900 RPMs instead of the usual 100-1100 it used to idle at. Now while driving when it happens the SES light will come on for acouple mins then go off until it drops RPMs again then the light comes back on. I just took it to the local Pontiac Dealership to have a Diagnosis done ($70 F*%@ing dollars) and they tell me that the code that is showing up in the MAF sensor. So I drove home (about 5-7 miles) with the sensor unplugged and did not notice the split second stalling while driving back the same route. Also noticed that the idle was a bit better. I have a SLP Loudmouth and whenever the problem was occuring my exhast note sounded a bit different at constant idle and at acceleration, but with the sensor unplugged it seemed to sound like normal. They want $480 plus tax to replace which im sure as heck not paying cause I know I can find a sensor for like $300 and put it in myself but Im just trying to get a second opinion. Any help here would be great!!! Thanks

Do a search in the for sale section. You can usually find one for under 100$
BTW, Most autozones and other chain stores will scan your car for free and tell you what is wrong.
