MAF Cold air tuned?

What do some of the After Market MAF sellers mean by cold air tuned? I have a Lingenfelter Supertube and am wondering if I could improve on the stock MAF performance by installing say a Granatelli or comparable product. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I removed my Granatelli and went back to oem. I got recommendations by many people on here and they said it would be a good idea and make the car easier to tune.

Sure, you can have the car tuned for a cai. Your VE has improved, any decent tuner would be able to this. I would honestly wait until you get more mods other than a cai. I didnt get my first full tune until all the bolt-ons. It was worth it.

Re: MAF Cold air tuned?

In a mass air setup, the MAF sensor will pick up the tiny change in air flow. Don't worry about that part.

The problem is the fact that the CAI changes the path of the air flow going into the MAF sensor. If the MAF sensor doesn't have a screen (and most aftermarket sensors don't), and even more if the center divider has been cut out, the calibration of the sensor is altered. That's something that is programmed into the PCM. And that's the hard part for a tuner to predict - how did changing the path of air into the meter, changing the face area of the meter, and deleting the flow distribution screen alter the MAF calibration?

I believe Granatelli claims they attempt to correct the calibration in the meter electronics for either a stock air intake system, or a cold air intake system, but I suspect that about as much BS at their claim that you will gain 15HP.
