Does the Y-pipe attach to the cat or does it delete it?
I dunno about the part number, but to attatch the cat you have to purchase a 3inch flange and weld it your stock or aftermarket cat. You can then bolt it up to the y pipe, and the other end stays attatched to the exhaust. The beauty of the system is that it makes it really easy to swap in and out an offroad pipe if you so choose to run one.

Not really, normally when people talk about shorties, they are referring to the headers designed specifically for the '96-'97 year LT1's. The drivers side header for those years is very short and compact to allow for a cat in the stock location if desired.

MAC's for the '94-'95 cars are called midlengths because they are longer than the shorties, but not quite as long as LT's. There is no real definition of what makes a header a shorty, or a midlength, or a long tube. Generally, LT's will come down far enough to point straight to the back of the vehicle.

Since we are talking about Macs, I have a problem. I just installed mine last night. The install went pretty good, until time to hook up the EGR. My Macs do not have a place for the EGR to attach. I bought them off ebay but they had never been installed. Can you even order them without the EGR fitting? What to do, what to do?

no luck for midlengths for my 93' LT1 yet huh?

All im hearing is good things about these mid lengths and im still in a dilemma between shorty's or longtubes for my 93' LT1. Ill prolly end up just getting the Hooker LT's for my 93' since MAC only makes a shorty for my year, and Hooker has been proven to be a good product for these cars.

The only downside to using the earlier headers on a 96-97 dual
cat car is emmissions. Technically it's not allowable. Not like I'm
a saint or anything with my true dual setup, but in CA you need
to be extra careful. The fewer red flags the better. I would think
that on a dyno there is very little difference between the Mac
94-95 and 96-97 headers, all other things being equal.

Yeah, I forgot about the emmisions. We don't test in my area, so I didn't think about that. You're right. It puts you in the same situation as if you used LT's, except that it's easy to have a cat in the system with the midlengths, like what I'm doing with my carsound cat. If they only test smog, you're all set.

CamaroZBoy...

I just got my MAC mid-lengths for my 93 (due much in part to the great reviews here and the details from stereomandan). I ordered them from Jet-Hot and took exactly 10 business days to arrive.

The part number is: TF3593

They actually just arrived yesterday so I haven't gotten a chance to look at them yet. They are 93 specific so they come with the provisions for AIR/EGR and includes a y-pipe.

I'll hopefully install them this weekend (Jordon and Ken's install guides will be very helpful) and I'll post back. Judging from the reviews others have had with these headers, I'm sure I won't be dissappointed. My driving is mostly short distances on the street and I never go to the track, so I'm not looking for the same performance as those who prefer LT's. The install seems easy, price was right, and reviews were great...that's what sold me.

Also, I want to note that my service from Chris at Jet-Hot was great. The headers actually shipped a couple days earlier than he had quoted me, and the packing was nice and secure.
