Mac Header Sound

I am gonna be getting some Mac Midlength headers for my 93 firehawk. I already have a cut-out on it. Are the headers going to impact sound much?

It will be different but it wont be like adding a cutout.
I run mac headers a gutted cat and B&B Triflo catback on my 383 and many people say its the nicest sounding LT-1/4 they have ever heard....

my stock manifolds were DAMN LOUD with my 3" supercat and flowmaster catback/40 series muffler due to the lowed DB level and all that air trying to rush out of the tiny exhaust manifolds...when i put on the macs it was way quiter but healthier sounding..a lower rumble and sounds damn healthy and mean throughout all rpm's

Don't get me wrong. I love my MAC headers. My car runs 12.0, and it'll still pass Md. emissions. BUT!...I think my car sounds like crap with the Mac's and my cut-out open.
Crappy sounding or not, the cut-out open is worth 2/10's

I'm still glad I opted for MACs, instead of LT's though.

are you still running a cat on your setup, and if so is it the stock one?

I have 2 pipes for my car. A high flow cat, and an identically flanged ORP with my cut-out in it. Thanks to having MAC headers, I can be legal in about 20 minutes after a night at the track.
Sorry to mislead...No, the car doesn't run 12.0 while emissions legal
I've never ran the car with the current set-up through my cat, but with the cut-out closed it runs 12.25.

I put Mac's on my car and with stock cat converter and stock muffler sounded better and louder, now with high flow cat and flowmaster, sounds awesome.

im hoping it will improve my idle sound quality...i hate the new generation of muscle cars..the idle is so quiet. hopefully it gets a bit better with the headers, and then eventually a hot-cam.

how did the butt-o-meter feel when you bolted up the macs? i'd imagine i'd feel the downlow torque of long-tubes better though..

On both pairs of the MACs I've owned, it hisses under high load / low rpm situations. It's annoying as hell!

I think it might be the AIR injection tubes not sealing, with enough backpressure, I think the air escapes and makes it "hiss"?

Vin1382, you will feel more torque with the MAC over long tubes because of the smaller diameter primarys which promote more torque downlow.

Really. quite interesting. I really dont need loud. i dont mind it..but i want deep, lopey rumble. so you have a flowmaster muffler with no cats? must elimiate the so called 'raspyness' everyone is referring to.

how much up top pull did it feel like the macs gave? my firehawk pulls decently when i put it around 65-70, i get a nice downshift and a chirp, but it still doesnt pull that hard as it climbs the rpms.
