Mac Header Install

I am having a difficult time installing the passenger side Mac header. Does it go in from the top or bottom? I can't get it in from either way. Do I have to jack the engine up? Need some help...........Thanks in advance. I did a search but the links were not valid.

The passenger side header has to be installed from the bottom. I did not have to raise the engine when I installed and took out my macs, and I had dropped them a few times over the years.

It takes a lot of finaggling but it can go in. If however your engine mounts are severely worn I suppose it's possible that it will be difficult to get it in.

If you need to raise the engine a little I guess u can try jacking the motor up by removing the nut on the trans mount and jacking the motor up from the trans to give you that little extra space to get it in.

That side is a pain, but it should go in with some effort.

Re: Mac Header Install

Thanks for the reply. I have brand new GM motor mounts. I for some reason, I just can't get that side in. The drivers side went in with no problem. Is there a trick of some sort? I would really like to do this without jacking the motor up.

Re: Mac Header Install

The MACs should slide right in just fine (I think I went in the top). Out of curiosity, have you removed the dipstick and the starter?
