M29 guys running 12 bolts?
What gear did you put in them?
I was thinking about getting either a 3.73 gear and running a 26" tire, or getting a 4.10 set up with a 28" tire. Am I headed in the right direction with either of these?

What are your goals? If you are looking at track use, you need to look at where your engine is going in the future with mods, and what kind of trap speeds you are ultimately shooting for. Going from 3.23's and a 26" tire to 3.73's and a 26" tire will increase your RPM at any speed by about 15.5%. Will you have enough RPM left to finish your run at the top of 4th gear?
Going to 28" tire with 4.11's is close but adds a little more RPM... in this case about 18.2% instead of 15.5%
The question is... how much HP do you plan to put down? For that HP, and the weight of your car, what is the expected trap speed? Can you stay in 4th gear at that trap speed? 3.73 with 26" will put you at about 120MPH at 5,800RPM. 4.11 with 28's will put you at 117MPH at 5,800RPM.
When you are doing the calculations, be sure to use the EXACT diameter of the drag tire from the manufacturer. Hoosier tends to make all their 28" tires pretty close to an actual 28.0". But M/T tends to vary the diameter quite a bit, compared to what is marked on the sidewall.
Also, don't forget that you can get a 3.90 gear in the 12-bolt sizes.

My goals with the car as of now are to run the stock longblock with a small shot on it. (100shot is what I was thinking) Then next fall I would like to build a complete longblock outside the car (So as to elimitate downtime) which would be a 396 with 11.0:1cr bottle motor running a 150shot. My ultimate goal time wise would be mid 11s on motor and high 10s on bottle @ high 120's mph. Thanks for your help
