AS&M install questions

AS&M install questions
1.) Should the slip fit primary have a clamp on it, or welded on, or
is it ok just to slip it in?
2.) What brand of anti seize? Does it really mater?
3.)I read some where that it is easier to just buy a new dip stick tube, Is this true? Or has anyone insalled these without removing it?
4.)Are the gaskets that come with them the good? I keep reading the Fel-Pro 1406 are the best, but are these good enough.
5.)The stage 8's look like a PITA, how often will the supplied bolts need to be tightened?
Thanks for the help. Oh, if anyone wants to help with the install when it gets a little warmer out, just let me know what kind of beer you like and what you like on your pizza!!

1. no clamp necessary. Use some anti-size on the inner primary tube
2. I'm not aware of any being better or worse than other brands
3. I went for the new tube on my car, but I've also done them with the old tube. I doubt you could do it w/o removing the tube
4. dunno...
5. Stage 8's aren't a pita, compared to having to re-tighten them

I agree with LPEdave on 1,2 and 3. I used the Fel Pro gasket to be safe. I had to only retighten the bolts that came with kit twice. Which was pretty much the normal intervals in the instructions I believe. If I would have thought ahead, though I would have got the Stage 8s.

I just finished installing AS&Ms about a month ago. I also agree about the primary. However, I used a Lokar dipstick, but I would not recommend it. There is a little play in it where it goes into the block (I coated it w/RTV to seal it). You also have to bolt it on to a header bolt not the nice factory location just above the inlet. Plus it is really short. Sadly, it also takes a few tries to get it into the tube. Some may like it but if I did it again I would buy a new GM tube and bend it. Oh, I used Percys stainless gaskets, but it is too soon to tell you how they work (the car is stored until April)

Re: AS&M install questions
You don't NEED a new dipstick tube....a lot of people get one in advance because they break the stock ones (or throw it into the woods....but I wouldn't know about that ) You're right about the gaskets, 1406 are the best. As far as the bolts go, the install WAS a PITA UNTILL I got the stage 8s....that was what solved everything!

1 - Just slip the tubes together.
2 - I like the Permatex, but I never tried anything else. Doubt that it matters.
3 - I just bent the old tube to go on the outside of the headers... right now its not even bolted in.
4 - I run Mr. Gasket CopperSeal. But, before you install the headers, make sure the flanges are STRAIGHT. I bought my AS&M's used, but the guy who bought them originally had to have the flanges planed because they were not straight.
5 - No problems with ARP stainless hex head bolts. One good tightening after a week or so and they haven't come loose again. ARP also makes them in black oxide and with 12-pt heads.

Thanks for the advice! I can't wait to get them on and drive my car again,Damn new england winters.
What did you guys do with your spark plug wires? If you left them in the stock looms did you burn any wires?
