AS&M Headers question??

Hey everyone, I am looking at the 94-95 style AS&M headers for my 97 Z-28. I was wanting to know if it will hook up to my emissions connection or not ? Is there any clearance problems with the steering shaft or does it fit great once installed? Also does the gaskets that come with the Headers good or should I get some felpro ones? Thanks for your time.

I have that setup on a 96Z, i been thru it

buy felpro gaskets for the header/heads connection

you will need emissions check valve adapters, call www.thunderracing.com for them, tell them you have 94-95 style headers and u want the adapters to put them on a 97Z

They will not match up to your ypipe, buy the random tech dualcat ypipe setup or get a offroad pipe, you will also need a SPIPE to get it to mate to your catback, these are avaliable at mufflex and thunder i believe

Next, USE STAGE 8 locking header bolts

for the collecttors, AS&M's leak bad IMO, USE percy's aluminum gaskets(garanteed to never blow out, went thru like 4 felpro's until i used the aluminum's) they are avaliable at summit.

Install, and enjoy

Cool thanks for te info. This is my plan for the y-pipe that comes with the headers. I already have the Random Technology cated y-pipe for the 96-97 LT1s. What I am planning on doing is once I get the headers installed and the y-pipe connected, I am goingto go to an exhaust shop for the last thing. On the back part of the 94-95 Style y-pipe, I am going to cut off the the y collector. Next I will take the my Random Tech y-pipe mark where to cut the 2, 2 1/2 inch pipes before the cats to mate it to the 94-95 pipe. Then have the 2 y- pipes welded together. I am basically just building the same combo that I could buy from www.ThunderRacing.com . With out spending $1200 bucks for it. So do you guys think it could work. From looking at both Y-Pipes, I think it could but I want your guys opinions. Thanks

Hawk speaks the truth...I have not had one ounce of trouble with the aluminum collector gaskets since blowing out the others. Otherwise, it is a great setup in my opinion.
