Arrow LTCC users... any long term road test results?

I just picked up some LS1 coils for the LTCC setup but before i purchase it Id like to hear some more about it from those who use the ignition every day. Knowing what you know now after running the system... would you buy the LTCC again or recommend it for a moderately modded car?

I was also curious how everyone got the coils to mount on the passanger side valve cover. I dont see a lot of room to work with so how did you guys resolve that issue? pics would be nice

heres the LTCC for those who dont know what im referring to.

Hey turbo_z

I have the LTCC and I'm working on a bracket to mount the coils to the front of my engine where the AIR pump used to be. Then I'll mount the control box on the fender above the fusebox.

I don't really want them on the valve covers, because how could you then run the engine with the valve covers off? I was planning to mount the coils to the firewall, but that looks like a real PITA. How are you mounting your coils?

I currently have no miles on my setup so I can not give you an very good response to your question. I will tell you though that at idle my car seems to idle smoother. I have my coils mounted on my valve covers. I had my buddy weld some brackets on my valve covers to mount the coils. I will have pics posted sometime this weekend.

I only have about 1000 miles on my setup before my head gasket blew so I don't have any long term results yet. It did seem to run the best it ever had. I used the GM coil bracket on the driver's side and a couple of piece of square tubing to mount them on the passenger side. I spaced them out so I could still use the oil fill. I'll email you a couple of pics.

I bought my coils in July last year and bought the LTCC box/harness in Feb this year and installed it. Here's my 'not yet complete' web page of the preliminary install.

Here's the kit in action at the Spring Break LT1/LS1 shootout where I took 3rd place in the 11 second index. Not a single hiccup in the box since I installed it correctly (hehehe... I miswired the white wire to the coil instead of the ignition control module initially).

Turbo Bob (aka Bob Bailey) is the owner/designer/vendor for the LTCC kit. Search for TurboBob in this forum and you'll see plenty of info on how to contact him.
If you want me to make some brackets like mine for you, I can. I will slot the bolt holes though instead of just drilling them. Makes taking off and putting on the brackets much quicker. Two turns of the valve cover bolts and the coil assembly slides off.

Mike, I feel the same way as you about mounting the coils on the valve covers. I like to have a nice clean engine bay. When you get that bracket finished can you post some pics. I would be a little more interested in the LTCC if I had a better mounting option. Thanks!

A couple of us have been using the LS1 coils for quite a while, with an aftermarket ECM. Mine are mounted under the lower radiator support, completely out of site, with the wires routed under the headers. Keeps the engine compartment relatively clean. Don't use this location if you have a blower..... a broken blower belt will wipe out the plug wires.... ask my buddy how he knows... .

DirtyDaveW,

Thanks for the offer but with the coils i am getting the brackets too so i was hoping i could just some how cut and reshape the LS1 brackets to fit LT1 valve covers. I really like the look of them on the vavle covers and i dont have to worry about adjusting valves every 3000 miles so it should work fine for me. i had seen a bracket that attached to the back of the intake for a real clean look but im not sure if that was on an F-Body.. seems the cowl would get a little in the way.

Injuneer,

yeah Fred ive seen your setup and i like it but i drive my car every day so it seem they could get wet in the rain and i just think valve cover mounting looks cool!

thanks everyone for the replies!

No! Did take digital pix, but not available. But I did use oem LS1 coil brkts. on both sides. With slight mod to brkts., I believe it to be a very clean install. Fits LT1 covers, (steel and vette comp.) like a glove. I need to unbolt one coil to add oil. Elevated brkts. slightly to clear RH plumbing (made both sides the same for appearance).

Eliminate the tube, the cap screws in the same hole. Or, you have the option of a 70s oem rubber push on cap. It is a little lower profile.

...and the PCV tube get in the way??

See elevated note above. The pix would be worth a 1000 words, wouldn't it?
