Ltcc

Did a search, but didn't really find what i was looking for...

How many guys in here are running the LTCC setup? I'm thinking of going this route and was wondering how hard the install was, and how it's working out for you. Thanks.

Either you didn't search very well, or thread(s) have since been deleted from archive. Not unlike the efforts of others, alot of typing went into that subject matter. Anyway.....

The LTCC or LT Coil Converter works well, in my experience. Smoother idle/low rpm with high rpm performance gain dependant on need based on combustion pressure increase.

It is necessary to design/fabricate your own LSx coil mounting brkts and decide on location of same.

Re: Ltcc

I used it on my 94 car and loved it. Has alot of built in features that are really nice, like a 2 step or a timing retard.

I am considering getting one for this 97 for the 2 step function.

The only thing is mounting/placing the LSx coils in a way that is not 'ugly', I had mine on the firewall but would not do that again, too hard to get to.

Re: Ltcc

I've had no problems w/ it but every once in a while I wonder if I really needed it?? The stock system is/was adequate...it came down to (for me) my opti. crapped out and I didn't what to ever have to mess w/ it again so what could I do...LTCC. But for the price I spent (roughly $800 I think) I'm not sure if it's worth the cost....

My serach yielded the same thing you guys are saying, most people that lgot it love it...but is it really necessary?

I was just wondering how the install went, is it really just a "plug n' play" sorta thing. As for the mounting brackets, MBA (one of the sponsors on this site) makes a nice litte mounting that that looks great. Thanks guys

Re: Ltcc

install was fairly straight forward, the MBA brackets do look nice, wish I would of gone that route now. I ended up use one of the ls1 brackets for the dr. side and some custom alluminum one's for the pass. side. Someday when I have some extra time I'll make a matching brakets for the dr. side.

About the opti. the pig tail that connects by the map sensor needs to be uncliped & connected to the ltcc wiring. Then the other end connects to the other connecter on the ltcc. Your basicly rerouteing the info. to the ltcc before going to the pcm. Your Coil comes completely out and depending on the year (diff. colors for diff. years) you have to cut and crimp some connections down there. And that's it!! Not much to it.

Re: Ltcc

awesome, exactly what i was hoping to hear

In the event that my opti is in fact shot...and i put this LTCC kit on, the only reason it wouldnt work is if the rotor in the opti somehow wasnt at the right poisition, or had fallen off, since it's no longer being used to generate the spark?

the ltcc will still work because of the sensors in the optical part of the opti will still be sending the computer information. that is provided that the sensors themselves are still working properly. if the opti itself is not set on the cam correctly, then no, the ltcc wouldnt work correctly until the opti is set in its proper position on the camshaft. if the rotor is broken or whatever, it will have no bearing on the ltcc working properly.

Re: Ltcc

ahh ok...thanks for all your help guys, just one more question, what plug wires are you guys running with this setup, looks like the LS1 wires won't fit correct? Having said that i would assume i will need to make my own, what style boot plugs into the LS1 coil packs?

What does that mean or imply? Without extensive mods, (especially FI) don't expect any gain, as added spark intensity isn't needed. In and by itself, increased spark does not increase hp/torque.
