that was one thing i would have loved to do. i never planned on doing it but it was always in the back of my head, you know a pipe dream of sorts. i am kinda upset now
Actually there has been 1 LT5/4thgen built...I believe I have a photo in a book somewhere. But it was a 1-off custom deal and required heavy fabrication since the shocktowers have to be relocated outward to provide enough width to fit the motor in.

Its still a pipe dream though, because after you spend mega millions fabbing up the car to accept the engine, you are then paying $20-$25,000 for the LT5 engine alone.

And if something breaks, good luck finding replacement parts.

Yeah, like has been said before, with enough money, anything is possible, and GM did make 1 LT5 F-Body, but it was a total one off. And required TONS of body and chassis work cuz of the extra width of the LT5 and its DOHC heads.

The LT5 F-body was also a 3rd gen.

I agree, one of my Camaro books shows an LT5 that GM transplanted into a 3rd gen (not 4th gen). Was just flipping through that book earlier this week. It says it required major work to fit...

i like it because it represents the future. our engine design is really really old. that was the first corvette to have an "advanced" design. and it made tons of power over the stock corvette motor i think it was 425hp. anyways it would be something i thought not alot of people have done and now i see why. also i love lotus' and they were the ones that helped with the motor.

'90-92 LT5 made 375hp
'93-95 LT5 made 405hp

Good point, I believe much of the engine technology and lessons learned from the LT5 were applied to the LS1. And now the LS6 is just as capable in a smaller, simpler package.

The LT5 was definately a breakthrough in terms of both engine tech and Corvette history. It would be cool to see GM do something like that again.
