GM offered this kit as a performance upgrade when people wanted a KIT so they did not have to search for parts! The springs are baseline springs and are rated at 100lbs on the seat which is a little better than the 85lb. stock Lt1 springs. of course the Lt4 spring will work better but will not give maximum valvetrain control. The Lt4 valves are 10grams lighter than the Lt1 valves does not sound like alot but at a higher rpm it certainly is.
It is recommended to have atleast 125lbs on the seat you cannot get that with Lt4 springs, besides adding more seat pressure will give a nice HP gain.
Lastly,i know money is tight and the idea of a 40.00 spring opposed to a 60-120.00 set of springs fit the budget but a few more bucks will not kill you. I am not bashing the Lt4 spring by any means Shon Herron set the record with them! Just stating that there are better, safer spring is widely available.

Maybe they are on the ragged edge and some guys get away with them depending on rocker selection, exact install height or some other detail not being discussed. Honestly though valve float is extremely common and relatively rarely noticed or properly diagnosed until it is very severe.
