LT4 motor question.

I am buying a LT1 and have plans of buying an lt4 conversion kit for it and my question is,, is there anything else i could do to it to make it faster and produce more horsepower? Im looking to get a mid 12 sec car.. And im probably starting with a 94 camaro with a shift kit and 78k.. and will have about 5k to spend on mods for it counting the LT4 conversion kit.

Re: LT4 motor question.

Long tubes, cold air induction, good exhaust, port the lt4 castings, and some gear ought to do the trick....

Re: LT4 motor question.

You might want to rethink the "LT4 Conversion Kit"..... first, GM stopped making it. Second, as pointed out above, you would get a lot larger power increase for less money with a good port job on your stock LT1 heads, and a matching cam. The link to eportworks is worth checking out.

Re: LT4 motor question.

Anybody have a good solution for someone who lives in Washington state and is looking at similar ideas for port jobs/conversions. Elliott is a long ways from WA, and they only work your heads right, they don't sell new? Thats what I've heard anyway and the website is pretty barebones. So that would require shipping a lot of stuff both ways a very long distance, something I'm not overly thrilled about doing. So if anybody knows a good place near the Seattle/Tacoma area for portwork that would be great for me in the near future.

Re: LT4 motor question.

All you would need to ship is your heads to him, then he does the work and ships them back... No other parts needed, just one package. If your concerned about it you could always buy the post offices insurance or get delivery conformation.

Re: LT4 motor question.

Bare LT1 heads weigh 14 pounds each packed. You can easily ship them for less than $30.00 insured.
